Session 2 -- Rescuing Clorissa

16 Andorus Month, 753 YA

Around Noon
Our adventurers have travelled through the sewers and come upon a dug out tunnel in the dirt and rock beneath Andoria. They begin to follow the tunnel when they hear someone singing an ole Andorian tune. They follow along till they come to a small room about 35 feet in diameter. There, they see a beautiful woman with red hair, naked and hanging from a stake in the ceiling. She is surrounded by Stickl.

The Stickl have the jump on our characters, because of their tremor sense. Three swamr toward Khylsan who is at the end of the tunnel as it opens into the room and attack, making one hit. THe other drops its weapons and climbs onto the "ceiling" where it prepares to engage anyone coming into the room.

Our heroes fight back, Khylsan killing one of the Stickl, and Dernon, our fleet of foot halfling monk, tumbling through the line of Stickl to punch one through the back. His hand is so solid it actually pushes through the Stickl and out the other side, killing the Stickl. Khylsan moves into the room and cuts through the ropes bingding the beautiful woman who collapses at his feet. Airk and the others hear behind them a swarm of giant roaches. Quickly Khylsan disembowels the Stickl that jumped on him from the ceiling while Dernon finishes off the last of the others with Khylsan's help. They prepare to run when they realize another swarm of giant cockroaches heads toward them down the only other tunnel.

In a desperate move, the woman says "which way?" The Company says "that way" and she raises her hand sending a sphere of flame down the path to destroy the bugs. She collapses unconscious after doing so. Khylsan grabs her and runs, followed by the rest of the company. In a short break, Airk bandages the bleeding lashes made by the vile whip of the Stickl, while Dernon pours a potion down her throat.

When the woman awakes she demands that they take her back to get her sword and her bag, but they say they saw nothing. They continue on for over a 1000 feet. Up ahead is a lit opening.

Our sneaky monk and ranger move forward only to be surprised by six Stickl, one of them larger than the others and wielding two swords. The Stickl engage swarming against the opening again. Gacokia calls for help, and Airk runs forward. Khylsan prepares to follow when the woman cries out "don't leave me." Torn, Khylsan feels he must help his allies. He runs forward. Deftly, the Company destroy the Stickl, though Sir Khylsan is wounded badly in the fight.

they retrieve our heroine who finally reveals her name as Clorissa. But something seems wrong with her. She hums the old Andorian tune constantly, and says she knows about the lost prophecies. But what are the lost prophecies? Our heroes do not know. Nor do they see a way out, until at long last searching and searing the room, the discover a shaft leading up and out.

Dernon shimmies up the shaft and finds himself in the middle of the barracks. he waits patiently until he can move out and tie off a rope. Gacokia follows with more rope so the others can heave themselves up. As Khylsan reveals himself soldiers notice him and come after him. He is able to send them for medical help, hoping to get away before anyone discovers a young naked and severly beaten Clorissa with them. Alas, Cleric Polik emerges to tend to Khylsan when he spies Clorissa. He orders Khylsan's arrest. Dernon and Airk are spotted, but through magic they are able to flee and leap over the high wall that separates the barracks from East Westle, Dernon's temporary monastery.

Back with Cleric Polik, Khylsan insists that he will not abandon his weapons though he will accompany the clric peacefully. The clric moves into a central building where he tends to Clorissa and asks her questions. Unable to find any evidence against Khylsan, he demands a report. As per his right, Khylsan refers Cleric Polik to his superior. Polik heals Khylsan and moves off. While Khylsan has made his escape, he has had to reveal his position as an official to the army to the rest of the Company.

The Company are separated and spend the rest of the afternoon trying to discover where each has hidden. Through luck, Dernon casts an animal messenger spell and sends a little bird to hide out at Airk's room at te Silver Star. There, it finds Gacokia and leads them to the correct place in the Lower Docks where the Company join up again.

But Clorissa is restless and insists she must find her sword and her documents which have maps.

Quick comment before I post Khylsan's report, Khylsan was the one that cut down Clorissa and disemboweled the one that jumped upon him. Other than that, awesome recount.

Upon regrouping with my companions, we began to explore the Eastern sewer system. The sewer system was crawling with the cockroaches that we have seen earlier, however they were not aggressive. As we walked we began to hear someone singing and old Andorian tune, investigating we followed it down a tunnel and found a woman chained to the wall, and surrounded by 4 Stickl.

We fought bravely and the Stickl had no chance against our might. Two of them were slain by my sword, and the others fell to my halfing and elf companions. The woman was badly hurt, and I cut her down. We heard a screeching sound as a swarm of cockroaches were attacking from the passage behind us, as well as some coming from the adjoining pasage in front of us. The woman gasped out which way, and let loose an amazing feat of magic, causing a flaming sphere to shoot down the passageway, the shrieks of death still sting my ears.

The woman fell unconscious after her spell, and I picked her up and carried her as we fled from the oncoming horde. Interestingly enough Dernon reached into a bag and pulled out what appeared to be a badger and threw it at the swarm. Needless to say, it was devoured nearly immediately, however it gave us a few extra moments to escape from the room.

The passage ahead of us was really long, we followed it for quite some time, and then stopped to rest and check the woman's wounds. Airk made sure her wounds were sufficiently bandaged before we continued on.

The woman awoke, and began to demand to have her sword and bag, which we did not see, evidently the sword talks to her. Perhaps this is something we need to look into. Shortly ahead we saw light spilling into another opening, Dernon and Gacokia began to sneak ahead to see what awaited us, they stumbled into an ambush by six more Stickl, one of which was wielding two swords and appeared to be a leader of some sorts. It is obvious that these two are inexperienced when it comes to tactics, but that is to be discussed in a later journal.

Gacokia and Dernon fought bravely, killing a few of the Stickl, while I killed one at range with my bow a the woman insisted she not be left alone. As I watched the battle unfold, I decided that I needed to engage in melee, as that would guarantee our survival. One Stickl jumped at me as I entered the room, he was quickly dealt with by me and my companions. The leader however caught me with my guard down and dealt a blow that wounded me considerably. The leader fell seconds later.

We questioned the woman, who told u her name was Clorissa. She began to talk about her sword once again, and mentioned the old prophecies. Could these prophecies have something to do with the Stickl in the city? I do not know yet, I will continue to observe her, and make her my ward until I can get to the bottom of her involvement. However, if her existence becomes a threat to the Empire, I will turn her over to your authority.

We discovered a shaft leading up, and a small tunnel we would have to crawl through. We decided to go up, which lead us into the barracks. This caused several problems which in the end lead to me being found out by my companions. They still don't understand the threat that this places against the Empire, and if they were to become a threat I will deal with them myself. As for the situation that unfolded, two guards saw us coming out of the sewers, I tried to dissuade them, however I probably chose my words poorly. Upon seeing my identification they began to refer to my house. I requested they get a cleric to tend to the woman's wounds.

Cleric Polik was called to the scene, I asked him to care for the woman, then the almighty cleric began to accuse me of hurting the woman. If he weren't a cleric of Andorian I would have cut him down on the spot for the insult. He demanded that I and Gacokia be arrested, I refused to relinquish my blade to him. I however agreed to come peacefully. We went into one of the barracks and he tended to the woman and began to question her, she mentioned the Stickl, and I mentioned that we killed things beneath the barracks that could have been Stickl. He continued to accuse of her hurting her, however was not able to find evidence. He demanded a detailed report, and I refused saying that he would need to aquire my superiors authorization prior to me saying anything else.

Before he left, he tended to my wounds, so he wasn't all bad. Gacokia, the woman and I left to find our other companions, and she continued to insist to find her belongings. She evidently has some maps there, that may lead to more information about the Stickl and the lost prophecy. Evidently she is important to the Stickl, I do not know why yet, but this must be found out in order to destroy them once and for all.

We found Airk and Dernon in the lower docks, evidently they have strong magics that allowed them to escape the guards. I clearly under estimated their abilities, and am not sure if only one or the other have arcane might. Time shall tell.
